Participate in the Flame Challenge

The Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook University is currently looking for scientists to submit entries to the Flame Challenge.

flame-thumbThe Flame Challenge is an international science communication competition whereby scientists are challenged to explain a scientific concept to 11-year-old children around the world.
This year’s question is “What is Sound?”

Entries can be in either written or visual, the answers are judged by thousands of 5th and 6th grade students from around the world and two winners are chosen (one written and one visual). Deadline for entries is Jan 19, 2016. Winners win a trip to NYC to meet Alan Alda, a $1000 prize and is honored at the World Science Festival in early June.
