Nominations open for $500,000 award from Albany Medical Center
The Albany Medical Center has opened nominations for the 2017 Prize in Medicine and Biomedical Research. This award is one of the largest and most prestigious awards in the nation, with the winner receiving $500,000.
The prize recognizes individuals or groups of physicians or biomedical scientists who have made substantial impacts on the healthcare fields. The award often recognizes advancements in patient care or innovative biomedical research. To be eligible, practitioners or scientists must have demonstrated their accomplishments in the past 25 years, with preference given to achievements in the past 10 years, and must be nominated by a peer.
The prize was founded by Marty Silverman in 2000 to honor advancements in the healthcare industry and biomedical research. The 2016 recipients were Ulrich Hartl, Arthur Horwich and Susan Lee Lindquist, all ASBMB members.
