APEC Science Prize for Innovation, Research and Education (ASPIRE)

The State Department is seeking applications from and nominations of early-career researchers for the 2018 United States ASPIRE Competition. This year’s theme is “Smart Technologies for Healthy Societies.”

How can new technologies be deployed in healthcare and increase health access in both urban and rural communities? If you have collaborated internationally in your work on:

  • biomedical technology,
  • pharmaceutical technology
  • point-of-care systems
  • artificial gene fusion
  • cell surface display techniques
  • nanomedicine
  • other research areas including healthcare supply chains, wearable technology, self-help devices, medical Informatics, robotics, 3D printing and continuous manufacturing, blockchain technology, etc. …

then you are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

Who is eligible:

Researchers under 40 whose work pertains to increasing health access through new technologies and who work collaboratively across international borders. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to scientific excellence and to collaboration with fellow researchers from other APEC nations.*

About APEC and ASPIRE:

The APEC Science Prize for Innovation, Research and Education (ASPIRE) is an annual award hosted by the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Policy Partnership for Science, Technology and Innovation. Each member nation nominates one researcher. The United States ASPIRE competition will select one nominee to represent the United States on the world stage. The nominee and two runners-up will also receive a cash prize sponsored by scientific publishers Wiley and Elsevier.

 

*APEC nations include: Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the U.S. and Vietnam.
