Pre-application deadline for Michelson Prize is this week
Here’s one from the mailbag: It’s the last week for early-career investigators working to “advance the development of vaccines and immunotherapies for major global diseases” to submit their “pre-applications” for the Michelson Prize, which has a purse of $150,000.
Applying for the Michelson Prize requires two steps: an initial “pre-application” (due Oct. 29) and a full application (due Feb. 4). (Note: Full applications are invited in December, once the pre-applications have been reviewed.)
About the prize:
The Michelson Medical Research Foundation (MMRF) together with the Human Vaccines Project established the Michelson Prizes for Vaccine Research in 2018. This $20 million initiative, funded by the MMRF and administered by the Human Vaccines Project, supports young investigators under the age of 35 who are using disruptive research concepts and inventive processes to significantly advance the development of vaccines and immunotherapies for major global diseases.
Full eligibility information is available on the prize website, but here’s an excerpt:
While the Michelson Prizes are focused on research outcomes in the fields of vaccine and immunotherapy discovery, applicants from the full spectrum of related disciplines, including clinical research, protein engineering, biomedicine, computer science, engineering and nanotechnology are encouraged to apply.
Applications relating to human immunology, computational biology and protein engineering, and neglected parasitic diseases are welcome.
