Nominate a chemist who’s 42 or under for C&EN’s Talented 12

Chemical & Engineering News is taking nominations for its annual Talented 12 competition, which recognizes excellent scientists who are 42 years old or younger. The deadline is April 15.

Nominees working in academia should not yet have tenure. Those from industry should have no more than 10 years of post-Ph.D. experience. Importantly, the nomination page says, “Extraordinary grad students and postdocs will be considered.”

The 2019 cohort will give what are being billed as “TED-style talks” during a symposium at the American Chemical Society’s annual meeting in August in San Diego. (If you want to be notified when more info about the symposium is available, sign up here.)

Here are some past winners.

While the editorial team at C&EN determines the winners, the competition is presented by Thermo Fisher Scientific.
