Webinar on federal funding for commercializing research on March 28

The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, which is a part of the National Institutes of Health, is offering a webinar at 2 p.m. Eastern on March 28 titled “Advancing Innovation in the Equality State: NCATS SBIR & STTR Programs for Small Businesses in Translational Science.”

The webinar, put on in partnership with the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy and the Wyoming Small Business Development Center Network, will feature speaker Lili M. Portilla, director of strategic alliances at NCATS, and Kelly Haigler Cornish, program manager at WSMBCN.

According to an announcement we received, the webinar will cover the following:

• overview of the NIH Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs

• other funding opportunities and deadlines

• tips for applicants

Here’s what they said NCATS is looking for:

NCATS is interested in the development of innovative tools, technologies and intervention platforms (drug, device, diagnostic) that would support the creation of novel therapeutics for many diseases. Its programs include annual funding to increase small business participation in federally supported research and development and private-sector commercialization of technology.
