Apply now for a travel fellowship for the Molecular Biosystems Conference in Chile

The Molecular Biosystems Conference on Eukaryotic Gene Regulation and Functional Genomics (#MBIOSYS19) is going to be held Sept. 30 through Oct. 4 in Puerto Varas, Chile. Abstracts are due June 30, but you must apply right away if you need funding to make the trip.

Applications for travel fellowships are due April 30, and you can expect a decision via email by May 1. (That turnaround time is impressive!)

Here are the application instructions.

The fellowships are supported by the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology and the Panamerican Association for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

We here at the ASBMB are very pleased to see that member Lynne E. Maquat is one of the keynote speakers. Maquat is director of the Center for RNA Biology at the University of Rochester Medical Center, and she was the the recipient of the 2018 Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology Excellence in Science Award. We wrote about her in ASBMB Today.  Listen to her award lecture and watch an interview from the 2018 ASBMB Annual Meeting in San Diego.

Also on the speaker lineup is ASBMB member Danny Reinberg, whose lab at NYU Langone Health is full of ants — on purpose!

We have it on good authority that the conference will have a session for new PIs, two poster sessions and a workshop on reproducibility.

The conference will be held at the Cabaña Del Lago Hotel, in Puerto Varas, Región de Los Lagos, Chile. However, the organizers emphasize that you can stay anywhere you please and can expect to be fed lunch and dinner (covered by the registration fee) at the conference hotel. Here’s accommodation information.
